WESTFIELD 277

Studio Gascoigne prepared the full design concept for Westfield’s refurbishment and extension of their 277 Flagship shopping centre.

This will be New Zealand’s only ‘Black Label’ mall, featuring a very high level of design, fitout and customer services. We worked closely on this project with Westfield’s in-house design department and then prepared the overall retail concept, interior design and light design.

The detailed design of the construction works has been handled by Westfield’s own architectural team in Sydney. This project has not yet been built.

WALL STREET

Commissioned by the Dunedin City Council, Wall Street replaced a vacant Decca store spanning 3 streets, including Dunedin’s main road George Street, to link two existing malls and create an enclosed pedestrian shopping street.

The development was deliberately broken into 3 distinct buildings in keeping with the scale and finishes of surrounding architecture.

Studio Gascoigne were chosen to head the design team carrying out the overall design concept, interior, lighting and retail design, collaborating on the concept with Parker Warburton Team Architecture who provided detailed design documentation and site co-ordination.

Wall St won Silver at the DINZ Best Awards (Built Environments) 2009 and an Award of Excellence at the IESANZ Lighting Awards. Images by Patrick Reynolds.
